The history of Familienresort Buchau dates all the way back to 1611 – and maybe even further. Let us tell you how it became the family resort in Austria you know and love today.

1611

This year marks the first time the former Gasthaus Buchau inn is mentioned by name in the parish records of Eben. However, its roots likely reach even further back into history.

1928

Over the centuries, Gasthaus Buchau continued to grow. By 1928, it had become a well-established inn with 30 beds, welcoming guests from near and far.

1973

A new chapter begins: The Rieser family acquires Gasthof Buchau. Annemarie Rieser – mother of today’s host, Hans Rieser – spent her childhood here.

1980

The Rieser family pours their heart into transforming the inn into a true family resort in Austria. By 1980, the resort already offers 100 beds, including 39 rooms with private bathrooms.

2006

Through decades of continuous expansion and modernisation, Familienresort Buchau reaches a new milestone: It becomes a proud member of Kinderhotels Europa.

2009

Hard work pays off: Familienresort Buchau is awarded 5 out of 5 Smileys by Kinderhotels Europa – an honour that reflects the resort’s commitment to quality and guest satisfaction.

2024

Familienresort Buchau continues to grow and evolve. In 2024, we introduced exciting new features for our guests: an infinity pool, a new indoor pool, serene relaxation islands, and many other highlights.
