Whether it’s your kids’ first short bike rides, leisurely tours together, or mountain-biking adventures, around Lake Achensee, family bike rides are as varied as your holiday wishes. Maurach, Pertisau, and Achenkirch are ideal starting points for short and longer tours. This way, you can enjoy your bike holiday in Tyrol at your own pace, depending on your fitness level and how you’re feeling on the day.

The ride from Buchau to the Gern Alm takes you through the romantic Gerntal valley at a leisurely pace. This 1.5-hour tour lets children enjoy a gentle ride to an Alpine hut – perfect for young cycling enthusiasts experiencing their first shared cycling adventures.

Bike tour for the whole family

Length: 32.9km | Riding time: 3 hrs | Elevation gain: 540m

The easy Buchau – Gramaialm – Gern Alm ride links two charming side valleys. Asphalted paths, views of the Karwendel mountains, and cosy stops for refreshments make it perfect for the whole family.

Mountain bike tour for advanced riders

Length: 86.3km | Riding time: 6 hrs | Elevation gain: 1,277m

This challenging route via Sylvenstein, Risstal, Plumsjoch, and Lake Achensee takes you through peaceful valleys, past the Kleiner Ahornboden, and up to the rustic Plumsjoch hut. After the steep descent to Gern Alm, you can enjoy a cosy stop for refreshments before you cycle back along the shores of Lake Achensee at a leisurely pace.

The perfect kit from the bike shop

You can rent suitable mountain bikes or bicycles free of charge directly from the sports shop at our bike hotel on Lake Achensee. The shop is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and offers a wide selection of bikes, children’s bikes, e-bikes, bike trailers, and accessories. For trail bikes and e-mountain bikes, we charge a fee of €15.00 (15 minutes) or €45.00 (1 hour).
