The holiday region Achensee is the perfect starting point for numerous excursions and sports and leisure time facilities.
Many Tyrolean sights are situated in close vicinity or within a leisurely drive of up to 60 minutes.
Here you get an overview of the most popular excursion destinations during your holidays at the Achensee.

Achensee boat trip (May-September)
An adventure for young and old captains:
During a boat trip you get to know the most beautiful aspects of the Achensee gliding across
the emerald-green glittering water.
Nostalgic rack railway trip (end of May until October)
For more than 125 years the rack railway has been climbing up the steep mountain from Jenbach to the Achensee. It's the oldest rack railway with steam locomotive in the world.
On the 7 km journey (ca. 45 minutes) you enjoy magnificent views.
Rofan cable car
Glide and fly like an eagle: With the skyglider "AIRROFAN" you fly like the king of the air with more than 80 km/h from the viewing platform 'Adlerhorst' ('eagle's nest') at the Gschöllkopf on 2,038 m down to the valley.
Feel free like a bird and enjoy the view to the surrounding mountains!
Numerous, signposted walking and hiking trails as well as via ferrata complete the offer.
Paragliding - free like a bird
The flight training schools on site take you on an exciting tandem flight or train you to become a pro.
Experience the natural gem Achensee from a bird's eye perspective and enjoy the view to the
lake which glitters emerald-green!
Adventure Park Achensee
Become an acrobat and balance or climb in dizzy heights through the parkour. At the children's playground or the slackline parkour you can allow yourself a rest.
Adventure hike to the gold show mine (May-September) - ca. 40 min drive
Whether you want to visit the show dairy with cheese degustation, the gold minery with ride with the gold express or the animal enclosure with mouflon, chamois and many more - you shouldn't miss this extraordinary adventure hike to the gold show mine in Hainzenberg in Zell am Ziller!
Silver minery Schwaz (all-year) - ca. 25 - 30 min drive
In 1500 the silver minery turned the city Schwaz into the biggest mining metropolis of the world.
More than 85 % of the silver in the world was produced in Schwaz. At constant 12 °C you drive with the mine railway into the 800 m deep tunnel going on a time journey to get to know the life of the miners back then.
Tratzberg Castle in Jenbach - ca. 15 - 20 min drive
One of the most well-maintained Renaissance castles in Tyrol impresses with castle chapel, armoury
and beautiful inner yard with arcades. At exciting guided tours for children and during a ride with the
slow train children are carried off into a fairytale-like world of real knights, castle ghost Tratzi and
his mouse friend Adele. In the end an exciting quiz and a great children's playground are waiting for your offspring.
Alpine Zoo Innsbruck (all-year) - ca. 50 min drive
At the highest zoo of Europe you get to know the indigenious wildlife with more than 2 000 animals
and 150 different animal species, including brown bears, otter, lynx, wolves, wildcats and many more.
Planetarium Schwaz - ca. 25 - 30 min drive
Tip: Combine this excursion with a guided tour in the silver minery Schwaz, see above.
Nothing is more fascinating and mysterious than the widths of our universe. In the Zeiss Planetarium
you have the possibility to discover them. Special children's programmes provide interesting
and age-appropriate information about planets, galaxies, day and night, solar eclipse and much more.
Local museum Achental Sixenhof - ca. 10 min drive
Make a time journey into the past and walk through 19 rooms and workshops with farming
and artisanal exhibits. The local museum provides an impressive insight into the former way of life.
Our tip: You must not miss the Tyrolean Mountain Christmas at the Sixenhof with crib exhibition in the
historic stable with real animals and Tyrolean Advent delicacies.
Innsbruck – capital of the Alps - ca. 45 min drive

Our regional capital city offers numerous cultural and active leisure time facilities: The historic
downtown with the world-reknown "Golden Roof" and the impressive masterpieces in the
imperial residence Hofburg as well as in the churches and museums are definitely worth a visit.
Also the impressive mountain range Nordkette and the ski jump Bergisel enchant tourists
from all over the world. At Christmas heavenly Tyrolean specialities and the big Christmas tree
of the traditional Advent markets in the heart of the snowy mountain scenery impress our guests.
Swarovski Crystal World - Wattens - ca. 30 - 35 min drive
Since its inauguration in 1995 the sparkling Crystal World with the famous giant, which protects
the entrance, enthralls the young and old. Among others a glittering miracle cabinet, a crystalline park
and a new exciting play tower with 4 floors (climbing, sliding, swinging and much more)
are waiting for you. There are also special guided tours and workshops in the crystal atelier for your children.
Summer toboggan run Arena Coaster (Zell im Zillertal) - ca. 35 min drive
& Alpine Coaster (Imst) - ca. 70 min drive
Rapid fun and pure adrenalin for the whole family. Rush down the summer toboggan run
to the valley with your children and feel the airflow and the tickeling sun rays in your face.
