Hiking on Lake Achensee

Award-winning hiking routes await you both in summer and in winter here, namely awarded with the Tiroler Bergwege-Gütesiegel quality seal for mountain paths, ensuring perfectly signposted hiking fun. Right on our doorstep is a 500 km long hiking route network, which leads you to the most beautiful places in the Lake Achensee region.
Family friendliness is also a priority in our hiking paradise: numerous paths are suitable for excursions with the pram. You can also borrow back carriers and buggies from us free of charge.

Mountain bikes & e-bikes

Lush green alpine meadows, colourful alpine flowers, crystal clear mountain lakes and rustic alpine huts – a mountain summer at Lake Achensee offers unforgettable natural gems & regional delicacies, which you can explore and enjoy by mountain bike or almost effortlessly by e-bike. Our Buchau sports shop offers the perfect equipment for your exciting mountain bike tour. You will find mountain bikes, helmets and trailers for hire from Easter to the beginning of November.

Via ferrata

You will not only get a breathtaking view while hiking, but also the view of Lake Achensee is the reward for successfully climbing our via ferratas. Here you can choose your favourite route from numerous classics and modern climbing routes. The “Dalfazer Wasserfall Steig”, for example, offers an impressive outdoor experience and is just a few minutes' walk from our family resort.

Skiing by Lake Achensee

At Lake Achensee you will find the perfect place to strap on your skis. With the nursery slope right on the doorstep of the Family Resort Buchau and the three family-friendly ski areas within easy reach, you have a wide choice of consistently superb and open slopes. With wide pistes and a manageable size, Rofan in particular is the perfect ski area for all ages as well as for anyone who wants to try their first turns at lofty heights.

Maurach (Rofan) ski area with 14 km of slopes and 6 lifts

Skiing lessons

Together with Bobo the penguin and our highly trained ski instructors, your children will have their first experiences in the snow during their skiing holiday by Lake Achensee. Parents also learn the art of skiing and snowboarding through courses. Adults are taught the basics in a simple and understandable way on the resort's own nursery slope or on the wide pistes. All our guests will find the equipment for this at our hire shop.

The children's ski courses for children aged 4 to 6 are held on our nearby Sonnenwiese in Maurach with a magic carpet and carousel.
