Excursion for your holiday on Lake Achensee

Discovery tours for the whole family

The Lake Achensee holiday region is a good starting point for a variety of activities and excursions. Many Tyrolean sights are in the immediate vicinity or with a comfortable car ride less than 60 minutes away.

Here you can get a short overview of our guest families’ most popular destinations on holiday at Lake Achensee. If you have any questions, we will be happy to assist and help you plan your family excursions!

Here are a few of the highlights:

Lake Achensee boat trip (May-Sept)

An experience for ship captains of all ages:
on a boat trip you get to know Lake Achensee from its most beautiful side and sail across the shimmering emerald green waters.

Nostalgic rack railway (May-end Oct)

The Achenseebahn has been climbing the steep mountain from Jenbach up to Lake Achensee for more than 125 years and is therefore the oldest rack railway steam locomotive in the world.
Stunning views open up to you on the 7 km long journey (approx. 45 minutes).

Rofan cable car

Float like an eagle: With the “AIRROFAN” sky glider you fly like the king of the air at more than 80 km/h from the “Adlerhorst” viewing platform up the Gschöllkopf at 2,038 metres down to the valley. Feel as free as a bird and enjoy the view of the surrounding mountains!

Numerous marked walking and hiking trails and via ferrata round off the offer.

Paragliding – be as free as a bird

The local flying schools will take you on an exciting tandem flight or train you to become a professional.
Experience the natural gem Lake Achensee from a bird’s eye perspective and enjoy the view of the glittering emerald green lake!

Lake Achensee Adventure Park

Become a “tightrope walker” and balance, do gymnastics and climb through the course at a dizzying height.

You can take a relaxing break at the children's playground, the fireplace or on the slackline course.

Gold mining adventure hike (May-Sept) – approx. 40 minutes’ drive

Whether it’s the open dairy with cheese tasting, the gold mine with a ride in the Goldexpress or the animal enclosure with mouflons, chamois and much more – don't miss the varied adventure hike at the Hainzenberg gold mine in Zell am Ziller!

Schwaz silver mine (all year round) – approx. 25-30 minutes’ drive

In 1500 the silver mine made the town of Schwaz the largest mining metropolis in the world known at that time:
around 85% of the silver produced worldwide came from Schwaz. At a constant 12 °C you head with the mine railway on a journey through time 800 m deep down into the mine following in the footsteps of the miners of that time.

Swarovski Crystal Worlds in Wattens

It’s not only children’s eyes that will sparkle and twinkle here. In the Swarovski Crystal Worlds you can immerse yourself in a fantastic, magical place and always experience new exhibitions and installations.

In addition to the Giant's Garden and the Chambers of Wonder, the creative programme for children is a particular highlight.

One of the most beautiful cities in Austria invites you to stroll, linger and explore.

The wonderful mountain panorama, which stretches out right behind the city, makes a stroll through the historic city centre something very special. A visit to the “Golden Roof” and the Innrain street with its colourful houses is a must.
